The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations.

Bruce received the outstanding volunteer community service award for his valuable work with Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic (now known as Learning Ally). Bruce’s contributions involved personally spearheading the implementation of a growth and development plan that raised over 240,000 in less than two years. Bruce had also rallied the South Carolina board to assist in the fundraising for a much needed regional production facility in Charlottesville Virginia. What really set Bruce apart from the other board members, however, was his constant desire to go to member schools and meet with students with print disabilities to ensure them that their right to an equal education was the driving force behind his commitment to RFB&D.
